How to remove a KMS activator and activate Office properly

You can clean up a cracked Office installation in about 20 minutes without reinstalling Windows. Work through these steps in order.

1. Disconnect from the internet if you suspect active malware, to stop any data being sent.
2. Uninstall the activator from Settings → Apps if it appears there, then delete its folder.
3. Delete suspicious scheduled tasks in Task Scheduler.
4. Remove Defender exclusions you didn't create, and turn real-time protection back on.
5. Remove the fake KMS host from Office. In the Office16 folder, run cscript ospp.vbs /remhst
6. Remove the volume key. Note the last five characters shown by /dstatus, then run cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:XXXXX with those five characters.
