Visio 2024 installs with Click-to-Run, and IT teams can also deploy it with the Office Deployment Tool.
- Remove any Visio trial or older Visio version from the PC.

Frequently asked questions
Can I upgrade Visio 2024 Standard to Professional later?
Visio Standard cannot be switched to Professional with a new key on the same install. To move to Professional, you buy a Professional licence, uninstall Standard, and install the Professional edition. Your existing .vsdx diagrams open normally in Professional, because both editions use the same file format. Plan ahead if you expect to need BPMN or data-linked diagrams.
Does Visio 2024 Standard run on a Mac?
No. Visio desktop is Windows-only, and Microsoft does not make a Mac version of Visio 2024. On a Mac you would need a Windows virtual machine with its own Windows licence. This key activates the Windows desktop application on one PC only. Check your operating system before ordering.
How long will Visio 2024 Standard get security updates?
Microsoft supports Visio LTSC 2024 until 9 October 2029. Until then, it receives monthly security and quality fixes through Click-to-Run updates. There is no extended support phase after that date. The software will keep working after 2029, but without new security fixes. Dates are listed on the Microsoft lifecycle site.
Is Visio part of Office 2024?
No. Visio is always licensed separately from Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024. You can install it next to Office on the same PC. For a smooth install, both should use the same 64-bit or 32-bit version. Office keys are available in our Office 2024 collection.
