The Long-Term Servicing Channel keeps the feature set fixed. You receive security fixes, but the interface does not change during the support period. This makes it a stable choice for offices that dislike frequent feature changes.

How to download, install and activate Project 2024 Standard
Direct download: Project 2024 Standard installer (English, 64-bit). Run the downloaded file to start setup.
Download Project 2024 Standard from the emailed link, install it and enter your key. The process is the same as in our Project 2024 installation and activation guide, except that you install the Standard edition.
- Find the product key and download link in your order email.
- Download and run the Project 2024 Standard setup file.
- Let the installer complete, then start Project.
- Type in your 25-character key when prompted.
- Check File > Account to confirm that Project is activated.
Install the Standard edition, not Professional. Each key is tied to one edition, so a Standard key cannot activate a Professional installation.
How Standard 2024 compares with Professional 2024
Standard has the full scheduling engine; Professional adds team resource tools and server connectivity. If you need anything in the lower rows, choose Project 2024 Professional LTSC.

Frequently asked questions
Is Project 2024 Standard a subscription?
No. Project 2024 Standard LTSC is a perpetual licence. You pay once, and the software keeps working after the support end date. This is different from Microsoft's Project cloud plans, which are monthly or yearly subscriptions. Security updates continue until 9 October 2029.
Does Project 2024 Standard work on Mac?
No. Microsoft makes Project desktop for Windows only, so there is no Mac edition of Project 2024 Standard. You need a Windows PC. If you use a Mac, a Windows virtual machine is one option, but it needs its own Windows licence and adequate memory.
Can I upgrade from Standard to Professional later?
Not with the same key. Standard and Professional use different product keys, so moving to Professional means buying a Professional licence. Uninstall Standard first, then install Professional and activate it. Your existing .mpp project files open in either edition without conversion.
Should I choose Project 2024 Standard or Project 2021 Standard?
For a new installation, choose 2024. Project 2021 support ends on 13 October 2026, while Project 2024 is supported until 9 October 2029. Both use the same .mpp file format. Choose Project 2021 Standard only if you must match an existing 2021 environment.
