The licence activates on the PC where you install it and is not stored in a Microsoft 365 subscription. It does not include Word, Excel or other Office apps.
Support status: what the 2025 end date means
Microsoft ended support for Visio 2019 on 14 October 2025. The software still installs, activates and works as before. The difference is that Microsoft no longer releases security fixes for it.
For an offline drawing PC or occasional use, this is often acceptable. For business PCs that open files from email or the internet, Visio 2024 Professional for one PC receives security updates until 9 October 2029. You can check dates on the Microsoft lifecycle pages.

How to download, install and activate Visio 2019 Professional
Direct download: Visio Professional 2019 disc image from Microsoft (English, .img). Mount the .img file in Windows (right-click, Mount) and run Setup.exe.
Visio 2019 uses Click-to-Run installation, the same technology as Office 2019. Follow these steps in order.
- Remove any Visio trial or older Visio version first, because a leftover install can block the new key.
- Download the Visio 2019 Professional installer using the instructions in your delivery email.
- Open the downloaded image file and run setup.exe. Setup installs Visio in the background.
- Open Visio, choose to activate, and enter the 25-character key from your email.

Visio 2019 Professional vs Visio Standard
Visio 2019 Professional adds advanced templates, data linking and commenting that the Standard edition does not have. Standard is enough for simple flowcharts and org charts.

Is Visio 2019 Professional still safe to use after support ended?
It still works, but Microsoft stopped security updates on 14 October 2025. Risk is lowest on PCs that do not open untrusted files. For internet-connected business use, Visio 2024 Professional is the better choice, because it is supported until 9 October 2029. Your Visio 2019 diagrams open in Visio 2024 without conversion.
Does Visio 2019 Professional work on a Mac?
No. Visio desktop is a Windows-only application, and there is no Mac version of Visio 2019. Mac users can run it inside a Windows virtual machine with a licensed copy of Windows. Otherwise, consider a Windows PC for diagramming. This key activates the Windows desktop app only.
Is Visio included in Office 2019 Professional Plus?
No. Microsoft sells Visio separately from every Office suite, including Office 2019 Professional Plus. You need a Visio key to install and activate it. Visio installs alongside Office 2019 without problems, as long as both use the same Click-to-Run installation type and the same 32-bit or 64-bit version.
Can I move this Visio 2019 key to a new PC?
This is a licence for one PC at a time. Retail keys can generally be moved after you uninstall Visio from the old PC. Reactivation on the new PC may need online or phone activation through Microsoft. Contact our support team if activation on the new PC does not complete.
