Support status: what the 2025 end date means
Microsoft support for Project 2019 ended on 14 October 2025. The software still installs and activates, but it no longer receives security updates or bug fixes. That suits an offline PC or a fixed existing workflow.
For a business PC that is online every day, a supported version is the safer choice. Project 2024 Professional LTSC is supported until 9 October 2029. You can confirm dates on the Microsoft Lifecycle site.

How to download, install and activate Project 2019 Professional
Direct download: Project Professional 2019 disc image from Microsoft (English, .img). Mount the .img file in Windows (right-click, Mount) and run Setup.exe.

Does Project 2019 Professional still work after October 2025?
Yes. End of support does not switch the software off. Project 2019 still installs, activates and opens your .mpp files. The change is that Microsoft no longer fixes security issues in it. Keep Windows itself updated, and consider Project 2024 if the PC handles sensitive business data online.
Should I buy Project 2019 or Project 2024 Professional?
Choose 2019 if you must match colleagues or a client who still use that version, or the PC is offline. Choose Project 2024 Professional for new installations, because it receives security updates until October 2029. Both versions use the same .mpp file format.
Is there a Mac version of Project 2019 Professional?
No. Project 2019 Professional runs on Windows only, and Microsoft has never published Project desktop for macOS. You need a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC. Running Windows in a virtual machine on a Mac is possible, but it requires a separate Windows licence.
Can I transfer this Project 2019 key to another PC?
This licence is device-linked and covers one Windows PC. Plan to keep it on the computer where you first activate it. If you expect to replace that computer soon, ask our support team before you buy. For several computers, a multi-device licence of the newer version may suit you better.
